The Minbari on Babylon 5 use base 11 mathematics.  When Lennier says he studied mathematics after his eleventy-seventh year (s1e21) he means 18, not 117.

This was a source of great confusion to me, having previously heard "eleventy" only from Bilbo Baggins.  In s4e22 we learn that Delenn was 40 when the ISA was formed, and I have a lot of trouble ( Read more... )
